Why I Chose to Become an Educator?

I chose to become a teacher because I want to be an inspiration to the next generation. I want to be a person that shows students love and encouragement, yet challenge them to be their best. I believe that every person deserves to have someone to fight with them and for their dreams. I chose teaching to be that inspiration and be the one to stand in the gap and help them fight to see their dreams fulfilled. I have grown up around children my whole life. I started helping in children's ministry ten years ago and knew that teaching was what I wanted to do. Throughout this time, I learned more about myself by helping and teaching others than I ever have before.
About 7 years ago, my family became a foster family and I saw the ins and outs to the system. Being an educator, the teacher has an impact on the foster child. For me, I know that I cannot take in every foster child into my home, but I can help them in the classroom. I also had the privilege to work with inner city children. Today, it is a goal of mine to one day teach in an inner city school. I want to be someone that impacts the inner city school systems and bring advances to each part of the system.

To me, being a teacher is more than having students pass exams. Teaching is about being an example, encourager, and someone that teaches even the practical things in life. I chose teaching because I had teachers who were an influence in my life.
Teaching starts by taking first steps into everything.
I want to leave a legacy that has impacted each community that I teach in. I aspire to be a person that is loving, compassionate, and giving to each person I come in contact with. I chose teaching to not only impact the student, but also leave an impact on the family.
